Hi welcome to my channel! This RUclips channel is dedicated to guitar, amp and effects discussions and reviews. I've been playing guitar since around 1995, with my first guitar being an acoustic. In the past few years or so, I've expanded the hobby to include modding guitars and assembling/painting guitar kits.

My review of the JHS 3 Series Reverb Pedal. I love this pedal and if you are looking for a relatively inexpensive, sturdy, USA made reverb pedal, I would highly recommend looking at this one.

Marshall DSL20 Emulated Out - Test #2
Просмотров 2756 месяцев назад
This is a test of the Emulated Out on my Marshall DSL20. On the rhythm guitar, there is only a little reverb from the DSL. The solo has a BOSS SD-1 in front and some chorus and delay. I am used to recording direct with my AXEFX lll so I am not a huge fan of the sound of the Emulated Out on the DSL, but I think it's useable for direct recording and for a direct-to-house signal at a gig. I just f...
My Review of the Boss SD-Super Overdrive Pedal (Hint...It's My Favorite Overdrive Pedal Now!)
Просмотров 1518 месяцев назад
I recently purchased the Boss SD-Super Overdrive Pedal. Iv'e owned many overdrive and distortion pedals in the past. I can say this is my favorite out of all of them. This pedal tightens up your amp and makes it more "hard rock" and "metal," without changing the character of your amp (I'm using it with my Marshall DSL20). Hope you enjoy this brief video and thanks for watching!

Boss CH-1 Super Chorus Pedal VS Behringer UC200 Ultra Chorus Pedal

This is my video comparing the Boss CH-1 Super Chorus and the Behringer UC200 Ultra Chorus. The Behringer is supposed to be a budget clone of the BOSS. Tonally, these two pedals are very similar. The BOSS is a fuller & brighter sounding pedal based on my experience. In this video, I have attempted to demonstrate the sonic differences between the two, but I believe that you can only truly hear t...
Dynamic Microphone Comparison: SURE SM57 vs Seismic Audio SA-M20
Просмотров 649 месяцев назад
I recently purchased the SURE SM57 Dynamic Microphone. I have owned the Seismic Audio SA-M20 for years, which is supposed to be a clone of the SM57. I decided to do a comparison. I think both are good MICs. The SM57 is obviously a legendary MIC that is used in every major studio. The SA-M20 is a great budget MIC and I'd argue it can get close to the sound of the SM57 with some effort. The SM57 ...
The BOSS NS-2 Noise Suppressor Pedal VS The Behringer NR300 Noise Reducer Pedal

This is a short video comparing the BOSS NS-2 Noise Suppressor Pedal and The Behringer NR300 Noise Reducer Pedal. The Behringer is supposed to be a budget clone of the BOSS. Both have similar controls and work in a similar fashion. I believe that the BOSS for around $110 is a much better pedal (not surprising) but the Behringer is not bad for around $30. The BOSS is much more transparent and do...
Using A Marshall DSL20 as a Power Amp For My AXEFX3

I recently started using my Marshall DSL20 head as a power amp for my AXEFX3. This is a brief video showing how to set it up with some sound samples. I don't believe the sound samples in the videos have captured how good it sounds in person, but I figured it would give you an idea. Thanks for watching! Btw the mic is going into a Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 and then into Pro Tools. *This is re-uploa...
Update On My BYOGuitar Ibanez JEM "Woody" Kit Project
Просмотров 65911 месяцев назад
A while back, I ordered a BYOGuitar JEM style kit and turned it into a replica of Steve Vai's Ibanez LACS "Woody" JEM. I installed the pickups I had available at the time and used an adhesive that looked like burl wood for the pickguard and headstock. I was never really fully satisfied with the look, so I eventually installed three correct black pickups into a new pickguard made from real maple...

Be great if you showed the sound you're getting brother.
is it heavy?
@@615rip2 no, I’d say it’s on the medium side for an Ibanez.
What’s the measurement from the nut to the center of the bridge posts? I have a squire I’m think of doing this too???
the NR300 seems to have more treble and much more open sounding? Boss NS2 - 0:54 Behringer NR300 - 1:44
I’ve seen one in ocean blue, I’m thinking of getting it.
Just got mine yesterday only took a week and I can tell you I must have got blessed mine is almost dead on one little run in a clear which is no big deal also came with active pickups the neck is perfectly straight plays like a dream best 270 I ever spent and I would put it up again Les Paul without a problem I have owned many expensive guitars and had a lot of problems financially I can't go buy a real Gibson are even an epiphone I took my chance on this and I'm overwhelmed
I just bought the black and white bullseye I can't believe it plays and feels great it got here extremely fast one week add to my surprise it came with active pickups definitely worth the 270 I spent
Looks great, but sounds sweet.
@@ericctheartofnoise8613 thanks !
Si quiero pasar de un E standar a un C standar sigue respondiendo bien?
Si quiero pasar de un E standar a un C standar sigue respondiendo bien?
if im running an overdrive pedal and an eq pedal into a high gain amp head, would i put the ns-2 with the four cable method before or after the other pedals??
One of the very worse pedals in all existence get yourselves a ISP Gstring there's simply no comparison.
Why can't How To pedal videos be like this? That's why this still gets many views because it's straight to the point for a Noise suppressor pedal. I checked others and there are to much yapping and I got lost with their instructions and explanations.
On method 2. Would I put my delay on the send cable going directly to the amp or output going to the effect loop?
I think look towards headarock and clockwise to tighten and flatten neck. I was looking to bridge and seens made it more concave and higher action and wanted opposite
Man, I still can’t stop thinking about how with an amp I just would not need to do all this. To me it’s on the modelers to ensure that they sound like an actual pre, not on me to waste my best energy not playing. I’ve come to find after 4 years of screwing around with these it’s making my guitar playing life unfun.
@@CreepyCat. I completely hear where you’re coming from. I have two setups now. My AXEFX that I use for direct recording and my Marshall head that I use for jamming and some recording as well.
Thank you! After the Pedal Input+Send to Amp Return (1), I got confused first, when you next connected Pedal Output to Amp Return (2) and then Amp Send to Pedal Return (3). I might have done it 1, 3, 2, just to understand better the path, but I guess it doesn't matter as long as we understand what we are doing and why. I was about to order this pedal through eBay and this video really helped me easily. Thanks
If I use the emulated line out, do I still need a speaker cabinet connected to the amp? Or can I just use the head?
When you make it its a replica, when I make it its settling for the cheapest option.
The final product looks awesome. Is that headstock a banana or holy grail or hockey stick? Thanks
@@sourayanbiswas4591 According to my order at the time, it was a Banana 1 PC Constructed Neck. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Wait, why didnt you played it? Tsc
@@mickaellutz5611 To be honest, over RUclips, I can make most guitars sound very similar through the AXEFX.
I looked for your follow up video on the zw emg installation, but didn't see it anywhere? I would like to ask if you had to ream the volume and tone holes in order to fit the new pots?
Nice comparison. Can you please share if both bodies are identical size/dimension wise or one is larger than the other? Thanks
Hope you’re planning to add the original pickups that were made for “Woody” ? Great videos
Thank you for explaining the effects loop and where to plug in the Send and Return lines. I watched another video that had it wrong and I got frustrated. This did the trick!!!
Is the master volume knob on the amp still works if I connect gt-100 into the combo amp?
Wish they would bring these US made ‘85 reissues back.
What do you feel about both the necks thickness/profile wise? Are they closer to strat or ibanez wizard? Thanks
I own one of these...it rocks BIG TIME
The one i got was horrible and so poorly built. The stixker wasnt on uniform and had bubbly imperfections. They drilled a hole kn the wrong fret for the inlay and bogged it up. Definitely crap. My neck intonation and fret height was almost immaculate but still, had i known I would not pay the $500 i did. I think mines worth $125 and that's generous. Ill be pulling mine apart for fun
The Cantrell epiphone body is 9-hole weight relieved.
I love this sound ! I think is good the emulates out in this example
This should be the commercial Boss uses for this pedal
ISP all the way. I've had both and the ISP is more transparent and a better gate even just through the front.
Thank you, it's a great amp and I appreciate your video muchly!😊
This amp is nice. Might one in the future and also nice pfp
Man u just saved me a few hundred euros. I was gonna sell my ID60 because of this. If im not wring when i bought it a few years back i saw on the internet that it had effects loop
So I have purpleheart wood neck on my bass. That doesn’t look purple like mine at all. Is it just the angle and lighting? The sound is very bright. Sound good.
That’s what it’s listed as on Amazon but the more I look at it, the more I suspect it’s another wood or just stained to look darker.
My amp doesn't have send and return option. In that case what to do? Throw away NS2 as in the first method even after connection of NS sound was too noisy.
Where did you put the Battery?
It actually fit in the control cavity.
Ebony is like a hot jalapeno pepper, cracking in the sunlight busting with acidity gaining increased value as it deteriorates into spice racks and sauce. Richlite is like money glued together that stays money, yet decreases in value.
What happens if you don’t have a return on your amp, then what?
If you don’t have an effects loop, then you would have to use it in front of the amp, which would still cut down on some noise but just not as efficiently.
Thank you very much for sharing this and the detailed information provided. This is exactly what I was looking for, I needed to know exactly how it was connected, and you showed it perfectly and explained it.
You could have rounded the mounting tab on the pickup instead.
Amazing! The noise has simply gone, even when turning all my distortion pedals on at the same time, and I'm finally using the send/return loop on the Boss Katana! Many thanks...
Is it possible to swap the diy neck with the Jem Jr neck?
But you say nothing about the quality of the nuts, the improvement it made (if any) or why you chose to use a brass nut over bone etc. A before and after audio demo would also have been useful.
Good points here. Towards the end of the video, I do say that the quality of the brass nuts are quite good. I should have explained that I chose brass nuts because I took a chance years ago on another budget guitar project and it worked out really well. As far as a before and after audio demo, I’ll be honest, there probably wouldn’t be much of a difference over RUclips through my AXEFX. The original nut on the guitar was garbage and cut poorly so it had to be replaced. The brass nut also helped with tuning stability. Thanks for watching!
Temu....easier, better, cheaper.
I’ll check them out thanks!
worse quality, worse shipping, not secure
@@kazuviking Never had an issue. Ali requires a lot more "communication, and time. Plus, nothing ever gets stuck in customs with Temu.
that first brass nut is a roller nut, break angle of the strings is on top of the roller which is about 2mm further back from edge of the fretboard, so you have to remove 2mm of fretboard. once done theres no going back, they are the biggest pile of shite ever.
My bank wont let me buy from AliExpress.
I use PayPal and I’ve never had an issue as far as payment. There was an occasion or two where I did receive a refund because of a defective product.
Yea never use your card on a foreign marketplace
Why its not function when i plugged in to power supply?
